This is a picture taken looking southeast on LA 46 of a tunnel put through one of the many radial dikes. This is syenite porphyry. That's me climbing up to see if I can get on top of the dike for the picture. I tell people that I had just fallen from the top of the dike, but it's not true. The tunnel was put in around 1934 by the WPA, at least that's what the little plaque says.
